Why Dry-Ice Blasting?
Dry-Ice Blasting is a non-abrasive cleaning process with many benefits, such as:
1. No secondary waste (like chemical residue or water mess)
2. Since it's a dry process, it's electronics safe
3. Clean in place (safe on most surfaces, so no need to disassemble)
4. Hypoallergenic (we can avoid the use of chemicals)
5. Environmentally responsible (living in drought area means we need to reduce the use of water, and other pollutants. Dry-Ice is also made of recycled CO2)
How Does Dry-Ice Cleaning work?
1. Dry ice is frozen CO2 and is approx. -114° F cold - it is environmentally neutral, non-toxic and contains no water. For cleaning purposes, dry ice is pressed into rice grain-sized pellets, that is then further broken down by the dry ice blasting machine and "blasted" to the surface.
2. Due to the extreme cold and the high speed of the dry ice pellets, the dirt or grease becomes brittle and cracks - the surface being cleaned is not damaged as dry ice is not abrasive.
3. Upon impact, the dry ice pellets increase (explode) in volume by 760 times, and in the explosion "blasts" the dirt or grease particles off the surface.
4. Since dry ice changes directly from solid to gaseous state (sublimation) and dissolves without residue, there is no moisture or contamination left behind from the blasting material.
